EVANSVILLE - The Magnolia Bluff Potluck Picnic and Savanna Restoration Tour with Kevin Kuwala will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the park, 4002 North Croak Road.

The free event will feature a potluck meal and special children's activities. A portion of the park is designated as a State Natural Area, for the purpose of protecting the native landscape. Magnolia Bluff includes the state threatened Kitten Tails plant. Kevin Kuwala will talk about the volunteer efforts to restore the plant, as well as other native prairie and savanna plants in the park. Children's activities will be provided by Lena Verkulien, director of Welty Environmental Center.

Those who attend should bring something to share: cold sandwiches, a salad, side dish or dessert and their own plates and utensils. Lemonade will be provided. Some picnic tables are available, but those who attend can bring folding chairs.

To sign up, email Carol Aslesen at cgaslesen@gmail.com.

The event is sponsored by the Lower Sugar River Watershed Associations. For more information, email info@lsrwa.org or visit www.lsrwa.org.
