MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center is again offering the Youth Art Class, this time for the month of August.
In this art program, students in kindergarten through fifth grade can continue to build their lifelong discovery, exploration and appreciation of the arts. During each class session, art instructor Lisa Beach will provide lessons in various aspects of art and art techniques. She will guide students through each project, while instilling creativity and expanding the imaginations of budding artists
Week one session titled “Landscape Art: An Historical Perspective” will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 12, 14 and 16. Students will learn about landscape artists of historical significance such as Thomas Cole (American) and John Constable (English), explore different aspects of painting landscapes, and discuss perspective as they create they own landscape masterpieces.
Week Two Session titled “Landscape Art: A Modern Perspective” will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19, 21 and 23. The focus of this session will shift to contemporary landscape artists such as Claude Monet (French), Salvador Dali (Spanish), and Peter Doig (Scottish).
Students can register for either week one session (register by Aug. 10) or week two session (register by Aug. 17) or register for both sessions (register by Aug. 10) to save on the registration fee. All supplies are included for both sessions.
