MONROE — Monroe Arts Center will host its third free summer outdoor concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 on the south terrace of the MAC grounds, 1315 11th Street, Monroe.
Madison’s own Groupo La Séptima Alianza will heat things up with their fresh and modern take on Latin tropical and regional Mexican music. They play a variety of music such as Cumbia (folkloric rhythm and dance from Colombia), Norteña (Mexican music from Northern Mexico), Quebradita (a Mexican dancing and music style), and Zapateada (dance styles of Mexico, with a lively rhythm punctuated by the striking of the dancer’s shoes).
It was in 2016 that this group of friends decided they wanted to form a band. The current band members are Antonio Flores (vocals), Juan Damaso (Guiro percussion), Joaquín (drums, vocal), Francisco Xelhua (bass guitar), Jorge Luis Rios (keyboard, vocals) and Omar Miranda (percussion).
A variety of beverages, including a selection of wines from Bailey’s Run Vineyard and Winery, will be available for purchase before and during the concert. The concert will take place as scheduled rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors to the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall.
