MAC to host painting classes

MONROE — The six-week class, “The Power of Color in Painting Landscapes” taught by artist Jennifer Mally, will be held for high school students and adults and include demonstrations, hands-on instruction and painting techniques. The first class is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. The remaining five classes are scheduled for Nov. 8; Dec. 6, 13 and 20; and Jan. 3. Class sessions are held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St. Instructor Jennifer Mally, is a printmaker, painter and figurative sculptor. She earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UW-Madison after a year abroad where she attended a textile arts school in Varkaus, Finland. After years of machine design, Mally began looking for a more aesthetic outlet for her creativity, so she opened the Blackberry Glass Studio. For eight years she designed art-glass installations for architects and interior designers. She is the current director of the Adamah Clay Studios of Bethel Horizons and the Executive Director for Potters for Peace.
