SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — M. Susan Champion Hicks was recently re-elected Aug 3 to the National Director for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. She was elected at the organization’s 57th Biennial National Convention in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, attended by over 1,200 members, voting delegates and clergy from across the country. As a National Director, Hicks is a member of the organization’s national leadership, consisting of five National Officers and nine National Directors.
Last year, Hicks moved from Monroe to her home town of Shullsburg, so she now worships equally at St. Claire of Assisi in Monroe and St. Matthew’s Catholic Parish in Shullsburg.
Hicks is a member of Court Mazzuchelli 2609 in Monroe. She has been a member of the Catholic Daughters for 37 years. Monsignor Larry Bakke is court chaplain. Court Mazzuchelli was chartered in 2008. Hicks is a Charter Member and Charter Regent. Among the local charities the court supports are Back to School Clothing, School Supply Project and Family Promise.
