DES MOINES - Monroe-based truck driver Dennis Potter, named a regional winner in Ruan Transport Corporation's (http://www.ruan.com/) "Driver of the Year" contest, is considered among the elite in his field. Potter's 27-year career includes 20 years with Ruan and more than 2.7 million miles.

"Dennis Potter takes pride in our company and in his job," Monroe area Ruan terminal manager Steve Mayer said. "Over the past ten years, he has adapted to our changing industry and always remained positive and professional."

Ruan drivers are members of teams dedicated to continually improving the service that valued customers receive and expect. Drivers are assigned to individual shippers, so they handle the same type of equipment and cargo on every run.

The initial 138 regional finalists, representing the top three percent of Ruan's drivers, were chosen in December from a field of more than 4,400 drivers. Then, the 18 regional winners attended Ruan's Leadership Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, where one has just been named the national "Driver of the Year." This is the first time in Ruan's 75-year history that the transportation company has recognized a national "Driver of the Year."
