MADISON — Discover Wisconsin will shine the spotlight on some of Wisconsin’s best restaurants and retailers in an upcoming episode. “Sip. Savor. Shop. Wisconsin.” airs at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 on Fox Sports Wisconsin and is now available on Roku, Smart TV, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, Apple TV and at DiscoverWisconsin.com. The episode was produced in partnership with Discover Wisconsin and the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin.
Co-host Mariah Haberman kicks off the episode by visiting some of the state’s most noteworthy cheese shops. She starts at Fromagination in downtown Madison, one of the premiere cheese shops in the state, and then heads to Clock Shadow Creamery in downtown Milwaukee, the first urban creamery in Wisconsin. Also in Milwaukee is Wisconsin Cheese Mart and Uber Tap Room where patrons can indulge in a seemingly infinite number of cheese and beer combinations. For dessert, Haberman heads to Indulgence Chocolatiers in the Walker’s Point neighborhood for a pairing of all the Wisconsin classics: cheese, chocolate and old fashioneds.
Next up, Haberman heads up to Door County, one of the state’s most popular destinations for fun and food. At Door Artisan Cheese, visitors can watch cheese being made in their creamery, sample their favorite cheeses, and enjoy a meal at their restaurant, Glacier Edge. Then, Haberman visits Renard’s Cheese Store to pick out some local cheeses to taste, grab lunch at the deli, and enjoy their fresh-daily cheese curds. Finally, tucked away in Bailey’s Harbor is Waseda Farms, a vegetable and dairy farm that specializes in fresh, organic food, including delicious local cheese.
The Discover Wisconsin crew then heads to Green County, the Napa Valley of cheese, where over a dozen creameries are known for their world-class cheeses. The first stop is Decatur Dairy in Brodhead where they offer fresh block-to-table cheese served in a Swiss-style shop, along with cheese dishes like soup, grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese. Next, the crew visits iconic Wisconsin brewery New Glarus Brewing where visitors can tour the brewery, enjoy one of their classic brews, and choose from a variety of local cheeses in the gift shop.
And no trip to Green County would be complete without a trip to Glarner Stube, an eatery specializing in Swiss food, culture, and, of course, cheese.
Haberman wraps up the episode in Northwest Wisconsin for a cheese fix in the North woods. Burnett Dairy, located in Grantsburg, offers ice cream, cheese samples, cheese curds and a full-service deli for the perfect lunch break. Finally, Haberman stops by Lucette Brewing Company in Menomonie for some craft brews, delicious pizza, and their popular bruschetta topped with Wisconsin-made cheese.
“Sip. Savor. Shop. Wisconsin” will reach Discover Wisconsin’s broadcast network of 600,000 viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Northern Illinois, and Upper Michigan. The episode was produced by Amy Wallace.
