ALBANY — The Green County Master Gardeners Association (GCMGA) will present their 16th Annual Gardening Symposium this Saturday, March 8. “Garden Inspirations for All Seasons — “Gardening in a Changing Climate!” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Albany Lions Club, 402 N Cincinnati Street, Albany. Both experienced and novice gardeners are encouraged to attend this public seminar.
There is a great line up of speakers, covering changing weather, growing your own food, saving rain water, building better soil and gardening to save the bees.
Speakers and topics will include:
● Keynote Speaker: Bob Lindmeier — retired WKOW Meteorologist from Channel 27, will be sharing how our weather patterns are changing and how we can better garden through it. He will also host a Q-&-A.
● Scott Johnson — of Low Technology Institute, will talk about what he learned from growing enough food for his family for one year.
● Anthony Nied — Safe & Simple Organic Lawns — will share on how to sustain our landscapes by harvesting rain water.
● Chris Bandura — Cropping Specialist from UW Madison Extension — will provide information on building better soil to sustain crops.
● Kimberly Kester — Regional Livestock Educator for Rock, Green, Grant and Lafayette Counties, will share how bees function in the landscapes and how to help them thrive.
Registrations for the Annual Gardening Symposium is $45. This includes five speakers, lunch, refreshments and resource materials. There also is a large silent auction, with funds raised to help provide local scholarships. Call 608-328-9440 to RSVP. Payment can be made at the door.
