MADISON - The Wisconsin FFA Foundation has awarded $26,780 in Supervised Agricultural Experience grants to a total of 48 Wisconsin FFA members from 26 FFA chapters around the state.

The 2017-18 grants were awarded in five categories: Dairy, grain production, livestock, organic agriculture and start-up. Successful candidates were chosen based on the level and scope of their SAE in accordance with their age, future goals and plans for the program and financial need.

Through the SAE program, students apply concepts learned in the classroom to real-world challenges and work experiences. It is one of the three-component agricultural education model in Wisconsin, which also includes FFA and classroom learning.

The 2017 through 2018 Wisconsin FFA Foundation SAE grant recipients are listed as follows: Dairy grants in the amount of $1,000 were awarded to Whitney Clason, Albany FFA, and Ella Woodworth, Shullsburg FFA. Cheyenne Burgess, Shullsburg FFA, received a $750 Dairy SAE grant. In their second year, the Livestock SAE Grants continued to be sponsored by Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association and Andis Foundation.

Kyle Haldiman, Monroe FFA, and Maddy Huschitt and Colton Klemm, Black Hawk FFA, were awarded $450 Livestock grants.
