Monroe

MHS to dedicate veterans' memorial

MONROE - Monroe High School will hold a dedication ceremony for an MHS Alumni Veterans' Memorial at 11 a.m. May 19 in front of the arch. The memorial consists of five benches crafted and installed by current MHS students with materials donated by Monroe Truck Equipment Inc.

The five benches are dedicated to each branch of military service. The American Legion Post 84 will provide the Honor Guard, and MHS choir students will sing "The National Anthem." All veterans and especially veterans who are alumni are invited to attend this special event to honor their service. This event is open to the public.



Fundraiser to be held at Papa Murphy's

MONROE - The Friends of Pleasant View Foundation will be holding a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 7 at Papa Murphy's, 122 8th St. Customers can pick up pizza, bread sticks, salad and/or cookie dough. Gift cards of any amount are available also.

Mention "Pleasant View" at the register and 10 percent of all proceeds will go directly to support The Friends of Pleasant View Foundation's Special Project Fund.

Relay for Life

fundraiser Monday

NEW GLARUS - The Green County Relay for Life will be holding a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. May 7 at Culver's.



Wiota

Annual card party this weekend

WIOTA - Wiota Fireman's Auxiliary annual card party will be at 1 p.m. May 6 at the Wiota School House. Euchre, 500 and Yass will be played. Refreshments will be served.



Monticello

Annual fishing clinic set for May 12

MONTICELLO - The annual Optimist Fishing Clinic will start with a bus leaving at 9 a.m. May 12 at the Monroe Public Library parking lot. A bus will take the children to Lake Montesian. Participants also may meet the group at the lake.

This is for children ages 5-13. Children must provide their own fishing gear. In addition to fishing, lunch will be provided and prizes will be raffled off to all the children.

The bus will leave the lake at 1 p.m. to return to Monroe. Children who do not ride the bus from Monroe must be picked up by 1 p.m. at the lake.

This event will be supervised by adult Optimist Club members. For more information, call Tom Kundert at 325-9725.
