MONROE - The Literacy Council of Green County Ltd. held its annual meeting and family potluck April 18.
The Literacy Council of Green County is funded by businesses and individuals, with the Monroe Fund being a constant source of grants for resources for the tutors and learners.
Volunteer tutors are the core of the organization, donating their time to help others learn the English language. The Literacy Council offers free services to anyone requesting help.
The Spirit Award recognizes those who have been strong advocates of the program. Spirit Award recipients for 2015 are Brenda Moede Steurer, Marcey Sink, Maribel Lobato and Shalini Arunkumar.
