JUDA - Cemetery walks with historical storytelling will be held at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Oakley Union Church, W2388 Gerber Road, Juda.
Actors in period dress will tell the stories of residents who lived in the Spring Grove area and had an impact on the community. The vignettes are designed to tell something about each life and share history on the area and local characters.
The event begins with a picnic meal, held in the fellowship hall of the Oakley Union Church.
After the meal, a tour guide will lead small groups to the Oakley Union Cemetery and then through the route to each of the seven vignettes, which include: history of the family, handwritten obituaries and events that happened in Spring Grove and the surrounding area from 1860-1895.
Parking is at the church. Guests should arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled tour time. Each tour is about 90 minutes. Attendees should wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes. If it rains, the program will be held inside.
The event is by ticket only. Tickets must be purchased in advance. There are limited slots for each tour time. Tickets cost $10, which includes the meal, and are available at the Sugar River Banks in Brodhead, Juda and Monroe until Oct. 5.
