LENA, Ill. - "Your mud pit awaits." This is the simple message the Le-Win Jaycees are sending to fun seekers across the region.
On Saturday, July 19, the Le-Win Jaycees will host their annual Mud Volleyball Tournament. This is the 23rd year for this filth-filled event that draws around one thousand people from near and far to Lena, Ill.
Team registration is now open and forms are available to download at www.le-winjaycees.com. Those without Internet access can receive a form by calling the Mud Volleyball Hotline at (815) 275-3396. Forms will also be mailed to last year's team captains. The cost for a team is $120, and a complete listing of team and game rules are available on the online form. All players should be 18 or over.
The event features music, a buzzing beer tent, artery-clogging food, and an unfathomable amount of mucky merriment.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m., and it will be held at the same location on Lake Road, just over a mile north of Lena.
Mud Volleyball serves as the Le-Win Jaycees main fund-raiser. The time, dollars, and effort the Jaycees invest in this event allow them to fund charitable projects such as academic scholarships, the sandbox fill, the house painting project, Christmas family donations, Camp New Hope, the Lena Library's children's reading program, and much more.
Those who are interested in upcoming Jaycees events or want to learn more about joining the Jaycees can visit the Web site at www.le-winjaycees.com.
