LENA - The Brian Peight family of Pecatonica, Lena community and Rock River Valley Blood Center are hosting a community blood drive from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, in Lena. RRVBC buses will be parked at Sullivan's Grocery Store, 201 Dodd's Drive, Lena.

Brian Peight was severely injured in an automobile accident in 2006 and has used 80 units of blood since the accident. The Lena community, where Peight worked, initiated a blood drive in August of 2006. Annie Peight, Brian's wife, is hosting this blood drive to celebrate Brian's recovery and to say "thank you" to all the people who came forward to donate in 2006.

There will also be a bake sale, Kool-Aid stand, and 50-50 raffle to Pay it Forward to help Ally Johnson, a nine-year-old girl with a brain tumor.

Eligible donors include people at least 17 years old (16 in Illinois with parental consent), who weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in general good health. More information is available by calling (815) 965-8751 or at www.rrvbc.org.
