DARLINGTON — The Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society (LCHGS) will hold a “Bakeless Bake Sale” for the month of October to raise funds to support the society’s projects and building maintenance.
They have had a busy year with restoration work on the Octagon Building at the County Fairgrounds, and 1937 Caboose that was added to the Darlington Depot, while maintaining two historic structures: The Depot and the Carnegie Free Library building that houses the Museum, Archives and Family History Center. Fundraisers are a regular practice for LCHGS to support all they do as a non-profit organization.
Donations can be mailed to LCHGS at 525 Main St., Darlington, WI, 53530, or dropped off in person or to the mail slot at the museum.
Bakers and customers of the Bakeless Bake Sale simply mail the amount they would have spent on baking supplies or treats they would have purchased to LCHGS.
To sweeten the deal, LCHGS will enter the donor’s name into a drawing once for every $5 donated. At the Annual Meeting Nov. 3 at the museum, three winning names will be drawn from the bucket to win their choice of $30 worth of shopping at the Museum Shop. That could be two years of membership dues or anything in the shop, including Kammerude art prints, books, railroad items and more.
LCHGS is hoping the excitement and fun of a drawing and the benefits of easy giving will attract many customers to the sale. To be entered in the drawing, mark the check or envelope as “Bake Sale.”
