MADISON - During a ceremony held at the 2011 Wisconsin Crop Production Association's Annual Crop Management Conference in Madison the Evansville agronomy team of Landmark Services Coopertive was granted the association's highest award with the Distinguished Member Award. Landmark was chosen for the WCPA Distinguished Member Award in honor of its 2010 accomplishments, which included the receipt of the state and regional Environmental Respect Awards.
The Environmental Respect Awards, sponsored by CropLife magazine and the DuPont Corporation, have striven to encourage and honor excellence in environmental stewardship, educate ag retailers on safe business practices and promote environmentalism in agriculture to both the industry and the general public. Eligible Ag retailers are required to complete an exhaustive overview of their operations with special emphasis on components such innovative technology, educational outreach and promotion of environmental stewardship among farmer-customers. Ag retailers from around the United States enter into the competition, competing first for state awards and then for one of four regional awards. Each of the five regional winners then travels to Capitol Hill in Washington DC where they are honored in a special ceremony and the national winner is then announced.
Landmark Services Cooperative serves more than 15,000 members in south-central Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
