DARLINGTON - The Lafayette Manor Auxiliary will host an annual cookout for the benefit of the manor residents on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The event is a way of showcasing the Lafayette Manor. The event is open to the public. Food, including burgers, brats, hot dogs and baked goods, will be served and music provided from 4 to 7 p.m. for a free-will offering. The event is organized through the efforts of the Lafayette Manor Auxiliary, its staff, and donations from individuals and businesses.
The Lafayette Manor Auxiliary began in 1998 to complement the mission of the Lafayette Manor by providing for extra needs of its residents. Over the years, the Lafayette Manor Auxiliary has held fundraisers including: plant sales, bake sales, love lights and cookouts.
The Auxiliary has been able to enhance the atmosphere of the manor through many projects, including redecorating the dining hall, adding a new sewing machine, Hoyer lifts, refurbishing the altar, subscribing to newspapers, upgrading cable services, decorating a family conference room, adding a sunroom and, most recently, installing a new laminate floor throughout the entryway and sunroom areas.
