Lafayette County to be feature on TV show

MADISON - The bright lights are on Lafayette County, as the area stars in an episode of Discover Wisconsin Television.

The show, titled "Land of History and Adventure," is set for its final broadcast across the Midwest. Locally it will air at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 on Fox Sports North, and at 6:30 p.m. on WKOW TV-27 Madison (ABC), KFXA TV-28 Cedar Rapids, Iowa (FOX), and WIFR TV-23 Rockford (CBS).

• Lafayette County's Three Golf Courses

• The story of Father Samuel Mazzuchelli

• Badger Mine and Museum in Shullsburg

• Bloody Lake Rendezvous at Blackhawk Memorial Park

• Lafayette County Courthouse in Darlington

• Lafayette County Speedway

• New Diggings General Store and Inn

• Yellowstone Rifle Range

• Roelli Cheese Store

The show was made possible through funding from the Economic Development Committee of the County Board of Supervisors.

"The show received an excellent response from its first two broadcasts," said Discover Wisconsin host Stephanie Klett. "We had a lot of people comment on how they had never heard of such an important person like Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, and how fun gravity hill looked."

In addition to the television feature, Lafayette County has been featured on five Discover Wisconsin Radio programs, and will get a special segment on Fox-6 Wake-up News in Milwaukee. That segment will air at 8:23 a.m. on Thursday, January 8.

Throughout the television special, viewers are encouraged to log onto www.discoverwisconsin.com to get more information on the Lafayette County attractions or events they are interested in. The Web site will link them directly to the places of interest.

Discover Wisconsin is the longest running television program in the country, and has garnered numerous national awards, including five Emmy nominations.
