ALBANY - The Lake Winnetka/Sugar River Improvement Association Inc. will hold its annual Carp Fishing Contest on Labor Day weekend, Friday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 3.

The event will be held rain or shine.

There will be a $50 first prize for the most carp caught and another $50 prize for the largest carp caught. Second through fifth prizes consisting of cash or merchandise will be awarded to the remaining four contestants with the most Carp caught regardless of size.

No registration is required to compete in the contest, but participants must have a valid Wisconsin-fishing license.

Qualifying carp must be caught from the Sugar River in Albany or on the millpond (Lake Winnetka) upstream of the Albany Dam.

The goal of the contest is to provide a fun way to help game fish proliferate more abundantly by removing as many Carp as possible.

Participants may start fishing anytime on Friday, Aug. 31 and fish all weekend. The contest ends at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3. Prizes will be awarded, rain or shine, in the park by the Albany boat ramp.
