BLANCHARDVILLE - Argyle resident Mandy Koch will be leading anyone who wants to join Team Mathias during the Chunky Monkey Epilepsy Run/Walk on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Yellowstone Golf Course, 15750 Old Q Road.

November is epilepsy awareness month and the theme will be purple to enhance that. After losing her son, Mathias, to epilepsy, Koch feels this run is pertinent for several reasons.

"I want to make epilepsy something people are aware of," Koch said. "It's something dear to my heart for so many reasons."

Race time begins at 10 a.m. and the kids' run will begin at 11 a.m. The cost is $25 pre-registration, which closes Saturday, Oct. 27. Race day registration is $30, $15 kids run for ages 10 and under and $50 family registration for parents and children under the age of 18.

2012 Olympian Mike McPhail and Bucky Badger will be in attendance.

After the race, soup and cider will be provided by local restaurants along with other refreshments. There will also be a putting contest where winners will receive a free round of golf at Yellowstone Golf Course and a kids' fun room with bean bags, an art area and face painting.

A blanket drive for the pediatric intensive care unit at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will coincide with the event. All handmade fleece tie blankets can be brought to the golf course on race day. Sizes needed are infant, size 30 by 45; toddler/elementary, size 40 by 60; and older children, size 60 by 80 inches.

Up to 200 runners and walkers can register for the race. To register, visit chunkymonkey.webconnex.com/onlineregistration or contact Koch at (608) 543-9098 or teammathias.epilepsy@gmail.com for paper registration. All proceeds will benefit children affected by epilepsy by furthering research at the UW-Madison. The race is presented by RBS Activewear, Argyle.
