Klondike wins Best in Class at cheese contest

MONROE — Klondike Cheese Company won big at the 2020 World Championship Cheese Contest, taking one Best in Class title, four second place awards and four third place honors.

Best of Class honors went to Odyssey Peppercorn Feta, a masterfully crafted cow’s milk feta cheese with cracked black peppercorn.

Placing second in their categories were Odyssey 3.2% fat plain Greek yogurt, Odyssey lowfat vanilla Greek yogurt, Buholzer Brothers Havarti and Buholzer Brothers dill Havarti. Third place awards went to Odyssey plain Greek yogurt, 3% fat vanilla Greek yogurt. Buholzer Brother Brick and Buholzer Brothers dill Havarti.

“We are extremely proud to have taken home nine top-three awards at this prestigious contest as we are competing with the best in the world,” stated Luke Buholzer, vice president of sales at Klondike Cheese Company. “Our cheesemakers and staff are passionate in creating consistent, high quality cheese and Greek yogurt and that shines through on the judging table.”

The World Championship Cheese Contest was held March 3-4 in Madison and is the largest cheese contest of its kind. There was a record of 3,667 entries competing in 132 classes of dairy products with entries from 26 countries.
