During the annual Kindness Retreat Nov. 9, fifth-graders from Abraham Lincoln, Northside and Parkside Elementary Schools in Monroe gathered for a day at Monroe Middle School.

Through music, movement, skits, small group discussions and a lot of reflection and thought, students came together to develop a model for a future in which caring and kindness rule.
