'Kids from Wisconsin' to take the gymnasium's stage

DARLINGTON - The Darlington Lions Club presents the Kids from Wisconsin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Darlington High School gymnasium. Isaac Risseeuw, a 2009 Darlington graduate, is a singer/dancer in the 2009 Kids from Wisconsin troupe. Other area talent includes Jens Jacobson, singer/dancer from Platteville, and Josh Fuchs, Lancaster, on trumpet.

Their high-energy performances features 20 singer/dancers and a 13-piece show band, all chosen from among the state's finest musicians.

The Kids from Wisconsin program was developed in 1969 under the sponsorship of Wisconsin State Fair where the group holds its training camp and maintains offices. The Kids perform daily during the 11-day run of the State Fair.

This year's show features the music of ABBA, a tribute to Louis Armstrong, Hits by Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder, American Idol Hit Parade, Cartoon TV themes, highlights from My Fair Lady, Van Morrison and a good ole' fashion country hoe-down.

All tickets are general admission, $8 advance, and $10 at the door. Tickets are available at Darlington City Office, Hair and Nair Connection, Ace Hardware, First National Bank, Subway, Craig's Hardware, Whitford Pharmacy or by contacting Tana at (608) 776-4276. Ticket sales begin at 6:30 p.m. and doors to the gym will open at 7 p.m.
