MONROE - This has been another successful year for the Christmas Poster Contest sponsored by Council 1471 of the Knights of Columbus in Monroe. Students in first through fifth grades entered a total of 151 posters. Students from Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy, Northside Elementary School, Parkside Elementary School, and St. Victor elementary School entered with separate judging in each grade level. First place winners were honored at the KC Children's Christmas party where they received plaques. All honorable mention winners received "Honorable Mention" ribbons when the posters were returned to their respective schools. First place winners and honorable mentions are as follows:

First grade: Winning Poster: Ben Moon, son of Steve and Lisa Moon, St. Victor School; Honorable Mention: Megan Benzschawel, Brennan Boyce, Owen Smith, Maddison Markham, all St. Victor School; Susy Barradas, Parkside School.

Second grade: Winning Poster: Aveona Moen, daughter of Shane and Jennifer Moen, Parkside School; Honorable Mention: Allison Brennan, Hannah Swenson, Makenzie Haldiman, Auburn Von Kaenel, Erin Butler, Aidan Lambert, all St. Victor School; Trevor Boll, Abraham Lincoln School; Katie Kelly and Emma Towne, both Parkside School;

Third grade: Winning Poster: Shayla Wilhite, daughter of Greg and Annette Wilhite, St. Victor School; Honorable Mention: Emily Benschawel, St. Victor School; Garrett Schroeder, Northside School; Naomi Niesman, Alexis Davis, Sean Bower and Wendy Barradas, all Parkside School.

Fourth grade: Winning Poster: Lexi Maxwell, daughter of Pam Maxwell and Nick Maxwell, St. Victor School; Honorable Mention: Skye Allen, Mya Waterman, Meredith Hose, MacKenzee Menehan, all St. Victor School; Sydney Mathiason and Dealia Carlino, both Parkside School.

Fifth grade: Winning Poster: Hannah Neuenschwander, daughter of Dan and Jennifer Neuenschwander, Parkside School; Honorable Mention: Brianna Abell, Abraham Lincoln School; Baylie Engels, Mylani Peach and Sydney Schultz, all Northside School; Clare-Michaela Hughes, Vanessa Meier, Stacy Miceli, Molly Minder and Carly Upmann, all St. Victor School.

Winning posters from first, second, third and fourth grades will be forwarded for regional competition. Fifth grade is local only.
