JUDA - Scott Anderson and his physics class at Juda School have been selected as one of the five state finalists in Wisconsin in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest.
Juda used its physics STEM solar project as a basis for their contest entry. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math. The school district researches projects and creates a variety of solutions to be able to incorporate projects within the curriculum.
Juda school is finishing its latest large project, where students researched ways to reduce Juda school's carbon footprint. The students investigated many projects and two years after the initial assignment, the school is installing a 24-panel array.
Juda was selected out of the more than 2,300 applications to be one of the five best in Wisconsin. For being a finalist, Juda is receiving two Samsung Galaxy Tablets to aid in classroom instruction.
Juda is competing against four other schools to be the state winner. Anderson and the physics class are completing in the next phase of the contest, where they will create a lesson plan that is due Monday, Nov. 25. The plan will serve as the outline for their project and accompanying video. If Juda wins, the school district would receive a video technology kit and a technology package valued at $20,000.
