FREEPORT - The Jane Addams Recreation Trail will remain open during the 2009-2010 Illinois Hunting seasons. This is a change from past years when the trail was closed during firearm deer hunting.
The Jane Addams Trail Commission strongly recommends that anyone using the trail during designated hunting dates wear hunter-recognized blaze orange apparel. Signs will be posted on the trail with this recommendation.
Hunters are not allowed to hunt or carry weapons on, or shoot across, the trail right-of-way, or to use the trail as an access to hunting areas. Hunters are allowed to cross the trail, and to retrieve game that has fallen on the trail right-of-way.
This season's hunting dates are: Nov. 20, 21, 22; Dec. 3, 4, 5, 6, 31. Nov. 11, 12, 13 are for the Muzzleloader season; and Jan. 1, 2, 3, 15, 16, 17.
