Inside The Classroom

Students in Mrs. Katie McIlvanie’s middle school class recently did a “quickwrite” the week of Valentine’s Day with the prompt: “Love is...”

Love is a passion for others or things that you want/need. Love can be overrated or fake if you don’t know the true meaning of love.

Many young people don’t know the true meaning of love and think it is just if you’re dating someone or married to someone you love them. That is true, but love is much more than one person. People sometimes throw the word “love” around without knowing the meaning. So, I will try and depict the meaning for you.

Love is a passion for something, whether it is a person, food, or a new video game. The dictionary definition is “an intense feeling of deep affection.” This means, love is not just a word, it is a feeling and something that has changed many peoples’ lives. If people didn’t feel love, people wouldn’t get married and many people wouldn’t meet.

Love has changed the world, many would say in a good way, and, in my opinion, it has. Love is a great thing, and it shouldn’t be denied.
