Homecoming events announced

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk High School announced its homecoming dress-up days and special events for Homecoming Week, which begins Monday, Sept. 24.

Dress-up days for homecoming are: "Camo Day" on Monday; "Twin Day" on Tuesday, "Theme/Color Day" on Wednesday (students going to "Twelfth Night" may not wear costume), "Blast from the Past" on Thursday; and "Spirit Day" on Friday.

This year's theme is "Board Games." Seniors have picked chess as their game and the color black, juniors have picked Candy Land and neon green, sophomores have Chutes and Ladders and red; freshman have Monopoly and blue; staff is purple; the middle school has Sorry and orange; and the booster club is Operation.

On Tuesday, the girls volleyball team plays Pecatonica. Everyone who attends the game, including Pecatonica fans, will receive free admission with a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Black Hawk Food Pantry.

On Friday, first period will be as normal, while second, third and fourth period is float-building in the parking lot. After lunch, there is a student council field day. From 6:30 to 8 p.m., football activities for kids kindergarten through sixth grade and girls Powder Puff dodge ball will take place. At 8 p.m., a pep rally will be held in the gym. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Those who watch the fireworks can sit in the bleachers or enjoy them from the football field.

A parade will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 in South Wayne. More information is available by calling (608) 439-5371, extension 425. The Black Hawk Warriors versus Cassville Comets football will kick off at 2 p.m. Homecoming court will be presented at half-time.

A dance will be held from 7 to 11:30 p.m. in the lower commons. The cost is $3 a person or $5 a couple.
