On exhibit at the Blanchardville Public Library, located at 208 Mason Steet, is “History in 3D: the Stereoview Sensation.” Stereoscopic photography allowed the world to be seen in 3-Dimension at a time when photography itself was still young. For the modern viewer, these images have been enlarged and are viewable with 3-D glasses. The photos have been carefully selected from the works of local Norwegian-American travelling photographers of the 1870s and 1880s, showing the earliest outdoor photos of our area.
The exhibit is on loan from the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society. It was previously shown in their Driftless Historium June 2023 through February 2025.
Arlo Paust, the primary exhibit designer, is a librarian, local historian, and yoga teacher. He specializes in Norwegian-American genealogy and photographic recognition and has researched for exhibits for the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society since 2016.
May 15 at 6 p.m., Arlo will speak about the exhibit and show some extra images.
