MONROE — The Green County Historical Society will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in the second floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave.
The meeting will feature Robin Carlson, Paper Conservator at the Wisconsin Historical Society, speaking on “Preserving Family Treasures.” She will teach on pragmatic ways to preserve a variety of family treasures including scrapbooks and digital photographs, as well as inherited family heirlooms or collections.

The next Family History Month event will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Monroe Public Library. David Bradford will present “Google Hints, Tips, and Tricks for Everyone” at the library. Details will be announced closer to the event. The event is sponsored by the Green County Genealogical Society and the Monroe Public Library.
The GCGS Research Center is located in lower level of the Monroe Public Library and is available to the public for research. Research Center hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and third Saturday and from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday after the meeting. Main holdings are on Green County.
Both Rock and Lafayette Counties are well represented as well as several other counties, states, countries and ethnic groups.
A large clipping collection of births, marriages and obituaries is available. Volunteers are on staff to help with research.
