MONROE - The Swiss Heritage Series of the Turner Hall of Monroe is sponsoring an afternoon bus trip to Milwaukee's Germanfest on Friday, July 26.
The bus will be leaving Turner Hall at 1:30 p.m., with an additional pick-up at Roy's Market in New Glarus. Attendees will be dropped off at the entrance to the festival, and be able to peruse the grounds from 4 to 9 p.m. The bus will be returning to Monroe at about 11 p.m.
The festival, held on 75-acre grounds of the Henry W. Maier Festival (Summerfest) Park, features eight stages of bands and authentic entertainment from Germany and Austria; cultural displays and exhibits; shopping, including dirndls, shirts and Black Forest carvings and clocks; and authentic German foods, beers and wines. Friday's band line-up includes the German party-rock band, Biba and the Butzenmänner; the Jerry Schneider Band, the 2011 Polka Band of the Year; and the Johnny Wagner Band, from Chicago.
The transportation cost is $35. The fest admission, which is available at the door, is $15 for adults and $8 for students and seniors 60 and over. Additional expenses, such as food, beverages and other purchases, are not included in the price of admission. Trip tickets are available by mail only, and must be purchased by Thursday, July 18. Tickets may be requested by mailing a check payable to Turner Hall Helvetia Tours and sent to Turner Hall of Monroe; Attn: Germanfest Trip; P.O. Box 762; Monroe, WI 53566.
