Bryon and Sherri Preston, Stockton, are parents of a daughter, Zada Rae Preston, born Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 in the Monroe Clinic, Monroe. Zada has a brother, Zane, 4. Grandparents are William and Deborah Heidenreich, Stockton; Marcile Elliott, Freeport; and Nelson and Jeaneen Preston, Davis Junction. Great-grandparents are Helen Summers, Rockford, and Helen Weber, Mount Carroll.
Black Hawk FBLA competes at state

Six students from Black Hawk High School attended the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference in Green Bay.

SOUTH WAYNE — Six students from Black Hawk High School attended the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference in Green Bay. 

Senior Molly Edler and sophomore Jaci Kammes competed in the American Enterprise Project and finished 3rd overall, qualifying them for the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif. later this summer. Edler and Kammes become the second consecutive group from Black Hawk to qualify for the National Leadership Conference. Last year, Peyton Downing, Allyse Troemmel and Edler competed in the American Enterprise Project, as well, and presented in Orlando, Fla. 

Other students that competed at the State Leadership Conference were juniors Alyvia Ruegsegger, Keira Brunner and Payton Stietz in the Community Service Project category and freshman Reese Smith who competed in Computer Game and Simulation Programming. 

“It is quite an honor for our school to be represented at the national level at FBLA once again,” said Brandon Behlke, FBLA advisor. “Having the opportunity to compete against schools across the state, and now the nation, gives our students an unique opportunity that many others from rural schools don’t get.”
