MONROE — This year’s 2023 Green County Fair is being hosted by the Fairest of the Fair: Miah Roth and the Green County Fairgrounds. The weekend festivities will take place Wednesday through Sunday, July 19-23.
With much anticipation for the attractions new and old, “It’s going to be nice seeing the support from the community,” said Jake Trickel, the new Demo Derby Promoter who shares gratitude. This weekend there are many events that recognize and show support to the individuals and teams that protect and serve our community.
To kick off the weekend, there will be a Veteran’s-only dinner Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Hospitality Tent. The Bulls & Barrels event will also be held on Wednesday (7 p.m.). Tractor pulls at the grandstand will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the grandstands will host dirt bike and 4-wheeler races, and the Demo Derby is at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Some new events that are being highlighted on the schedule are the Dirt Bike & 4-Wheeler Races Saturday from 4-6 p.m. and the Brew City All-Star heavyweight wrestling show on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Mayer Transport Show Barn.
Another new feature to the fair is that, with a wrist band, individuals 21 and up may drink alcohol openly on the fairgrounds.
This year’s musical entertainment line up will include DJs on Wednesday and Thursday from 7-11 p.m.; The Blue Smoothies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday; Frank Martin Bush & The Names at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday; and Eli Alger & The Faster Horses at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Daily admissions are $10 for adults and $5 for children 8-12, with daily parking $5. Mega Passes are available for purchase through Wednesday, July 19 for $70, which are good through the duration of the fair. Pit passes are also available for Amphitheater events as follows; Badger State Pull $15, Local Tractor Pull $10, Demolition Derby $25.
On Wednesday, individuals with a military ID get in free. Educators get in free Thursday with an Educators ID. First Responders are honored with free admission Friday with Agency ID. With so much to look forward to, this year’s Fairest of the Fair Miah Roth told attendees to “take care of yourself,” as weekend temperatures are expected to be warm again.
