HCC registering for spring classes

FREEPORT - Registration is ongoing for Highland Community College's Spring Community Education classes. More than 40 classes, ranging from business and technical skills to cooking, music and art will be offered beginning on various dates over the next few months.

Professional development courses include such topics as Highly Successful Presentations, Planning for Better Time Management and Promote Your Business using Twitter and Facebook. There are courses designed for seniors, such as Internet and E-mail for Seniors and Computers Made Easy for Seniors.

New this year is an expanded list of the equine courses that are extended to HCC West in Elizabeth. The schedule includes courses in the area of equine sports massage, health care, breeding, and training and riding, all with practical work/field trips included. One-time courses are also offered covering breeds, horse massage, buying a horse and ground driving. The spring semester for equine courses starts Jan.12 with Intro to Horse Health Care and Horse Equipment and Equine Sport Massage I at HCC in Freeport and at HCC West, Elizabeth. Intro to Equine Sports Massage begins Jan. 13 and A Touch of Natural Healing Methods for Horses Jan. 14.

Community Education classes have been developed to address needs of residents throughout the college district and to help individuals explore interests, achieve goals and enrich lives. Classes are offered at several locations throughout northwest Illinois, including Freeport, Elizabeth, and Cedarville.
