LENA, Ill. - A Halloween destination since 1991, the Lena Community Haunted Barn will open its ghostly doors for the 17th year this October. Having received numerous regional and state awards, this haunted attraction located in scenic northwest Illinois is rated the number one haunted barn in the state and considered a "must-see-to-believe" experience.

The Haunted Barn experience takes guests on a terrifying expedition through two large barns with multiple levels of thrills and chills, as well as a high-speed journey down a 160-foot slide and the latest addition - a spine-tingling super spiral slide. Included in this hour-long adventure are 38 haunted scenes, 80 plus scare features, two large changing mazes, a "Five Revolution Spiral Slide," a "Vertigo Vortex" and spook encounters from every angle.

Purchase tickets at the Lena Lions Park, where a bus will transport guests to and from the Haunted Barn. Nights of operation for the 2008 season are all Fridays and Saturdays in October plus Saturday, November 1. Tickets sales run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The first bus leaves for the Haunted Barn at 6:30 p.m. and will run until all ticket holders are returned to the park.

Regular-priced tickets are $10 each. This year, the Haunted Barn will offer a "First Night Special" on Friday, Oct. 3, when all tickets will be just $7. Guests can receive an additional $2 discount off the ticket price if they bring a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.

Concessions are available in the park, and restrooms are provided at the park and at the Haunted Barn. For an additional fee, guests can receive a special V.I.P. hearse ride directly to the barn.

The Haunted Barn contains high voltage effects, strobes, and high impact scares. It is not recommended for children under age 8, pregnant women, epileptics, or people with heart conditions, back, neck, or leg extremity conditions.
