Hardwood trees for spring 2022
Tree Planting

MONROE — The Green County Land & Water Conservation Department is offering trees and shrubs for landowners interested in planting next spring.

The tree varieties are: Swamp White Oak, Sugar Maple, Black Walnut, American Plum, American Arborvitae, White Pine, and Norway Spruce. The shrub available is Common Ninebark. The GCLWCD is sold out of Burr Oak, White Oak, Red Oak, and Apple trees.

The trees and shrubs are bare root; range in height between 7 inches and 3 feet depending on species; cost is $2.00 per tree with a minimum order of 10 per species; and must be ordered in increments of 10.

Most of the trees and shrubs are native to the area except the Norway Spruce. The species offered cover a broad range of soil types and moistures, from dry to very wet.

Mycorrhizal root dip, and nutrient packs are also available to order. Tree spuds can be “rented” for just a deposit. The tree planters are waiting to be rented.

Trees can be ordered by contacting the GCLWCD directly by phone or by ordering through the GCLWCD website www.greencountylwcd.com. There are order forms in the office available for pickup.

Questions about what trees will work in particular soils, how to order, or anything else, stop in or give the GCLWCD a call at 325-4195. GCLWCD will be taking orders until Friday, Dec. 31.  Trees are scheduled for pick up April 21-22, 2022.
