Handbell ensemble to perform at Monroe church

The Ringing Badgers Handbell Ensemble of Madison, under the direction of Mark Bloedow, will present a free one-hour concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at the United Methodist Church of Monroe. The group is part of the Madison-based Maestro Productions and includes musicians from primary southern Wisconsin.

MONROE — The Ringing Badgers Handbell Ensemble of Madison, under the direction of Mark Bloedow, will present a free one-hour concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, 2227 4th St. A mix of festive music, the varied program called “Sounds of the Season” will feature traditional and popular Christmas favorites, as well as, a unique setting of “We Three Kings” by Joel Raney, fitting for the beginning of the Epiphany season. 

The Ringing Badgers Handbell Ensemble, part of the Madison-based Maestro Productions, is an auditioned community handbell choir including musicians from primarily southern Wisconsin. In addition to Madison-area performances, the group has performed at festival conferences of the national handbell organization, Handbell Musicians of America, in Duluth, Minnesota; La Crosse, Wisconsin, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and just this past year, Rochester, Minnesota.

This event is open to the public. The church is handicapped-accessible with ample off-street parking. A free-will donation for the group will be accepted.
