Green County youth complete work apprenticeship program

MONROE - Graduates of the Green County Youth Apprenticeship Program were awarded plaques at their school district awards nights, honoring their completion of Health Services and Welding programs at the Youth Apprentice Reception.

They will also receive Certificates of Occupational Proficiency from the State of Wisconsin Division of Workforce Development after completing the requisite number of work hours and class instruction hours.

Shelby Whitney, Juda High School, completed the Level 2 Health Services program. Shelby worked in the Nursing Assistant Specialty Area at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home her first year.

For her second year, she worked at the Monroe Clinic in the Medical Assistant Specialty Area.

Graduates of the Level 1 Health Services YA Program were Hannah Dean and Lindsey Swain, Brodhead High School; Belinda Casique, Parkview High School; and Lorelei Fries, Monroe High School.

Hannah, Lindsey, and Belinda worked at Wood's Crossing in the Nursing Assistant Specialty Area. Lorelei worked at the Monroe Clinic rotating in the Emergency Room, Medical/ Surgical, Physical Therapy and Medical Records hospital departments.

The Health Services students completed the required courses for their specialty areas - Nursing Assistant, Medical Terminology, Intro to Health Careers, - High School.

Ethan Reynolds, Monroe High School, was the Level 1 Welding graduate who worked at Monroe Truck Equipment.

Certificates were also presented to employers, mentors and instructors for devoting staff and facilities to the youth apprentices for work, instruction and mentoring.

The first class of the Green County Area School-To-Work Consortium's Youth Apprenticeship program graduated in 1997.

The Youth Apprenticeship program is sponsored by the Green County Area School-To-Work Consortium.
