MONROE - The members of the Green County Home and Community Education organization held its annual Cultural Arts Event May 11 at the Green County Justice Center.
For the event, HCE members enter arts and crafts items they have made, which are then displayed and judged. The winning entries from Green County advance to the State HCE Conference in September.
This year, Green County HCE had 12 women participate with a total of 67 items entered. The program consisted of viewing of the entries, committee reports and a featured presentation by Susan Konopacki on how to make decorative garden markers. There were light refreshments and social time also.
The winning entries which will move on to the state conference are: oil painting, Lynn Lokken; black and white photo, Lynn Lokken; sewing, purse or tote, Mary Ann Krebs; crocheting, doily, Viola White; knitting, Kathy Weaver; crafts, stool, Lynn Lokken; heritage skill, felting, Lynn Lokken; quilted wall hanging, Mary Ann Krebs; table runner, Andrea Byerley; jewelry, necklace, Kathy Weaver; painted object, wood, Lynn Lokken; and bed quilt, Kathy Weaver.
The People's Choice Award went to Andrea Byerley for a table runner. The winner of this year's Bonus Category was Beth Campbell.
