Green County 4-H hosts free explore 4-H event

MONROE - Green County 4-H Day will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe. This is a free open house event where attendees can learn more about 4-H.

This is an event for those who want to learn how to get involved in 4-H, about the different types of projects available to exhibit at the Green County Fair, or how to make a difference in the community and become a stronger leader. There also will be a chance to win free prizes.

There is a common misconception that 4-H is just for farm kids. Last year, well over half of Green County 4-H members lived in cities, towns or rural non-farm areas and exhibited in projects like drawing and painting, home furnishings, electricity and child development.

The 4-H program is open to youth in 5-year-old kindergarten through one year past high school. Green County has 18 different clubs to choose from that vary in size, meeting time and location. To be eligible to exhibit at the 2018 Green County Fair, 4-H members must be enrolled by Nov.1.
