Green Co. 4-H youth participate in communications contest

MONROE - Green County 4-H held its Communications Contest on Feb. 26 at the Green County Justice Center.

The contest was open to all countywide 4-H members in grades 5K through one year past high school.

The goal of the Green County 4-H Communications Contest is to give 4-H youth an opportunity to develop and polish the skills of presenting or speaking before a group or audience in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Youth were eligible to submit one entry in each of three divisions: speaking division (prose/poetry or traditional speech); demonstration division (individual or team demonstration); and non-verbal communication division (poster, scrapbook, video presentation, computer presentation or promotional display).

This year's participants were Mickaelynn Andrews (Washington Center), Devri Bennett (Cheese Country Clovers), Addyson Brauer (New Horizons), Connor Brauer (New Horizons), Jaydon Brauer (New Horizons), Maylee Brauer (New Horizons), Royce Brauer (New Horizons), Erin Butler (New Glarus), Althea Eckdhal (Cheese Country Clovers), Connor Eckdhal (Cheese Country Clovers), Evelyn Eckdhal (Cheese Country Clovers), Hunter Huschitt (Clarno), Aleczander Johnson (Cheese Country Clovers), Averey Marean (Juda Jolly Juniors) and Linnea Tabaka (Young Americans).

The 4-H participants were evaluated and provided constructive feedback on their presentations, each receiving a certificate of participation and a participation ribbon for grades 5K-2 or ribbon placing for grades three through one year past high school.
