MONROE — Green County 4-H held its annual Communications Contest on Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Green County Justice Center. This contest was open to all county-wide 4-H members in grades 5K through one year past high school.

Presenting or speaking before a group or audience is an important life skill to develop. The goal of the Green County 4-H Communications Contest is to give 4-H youth an opportunity to develop and polish these skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Youth were eligible to submit one entry in each of two divisions: Demonstration Division (individual or team demonstration); Speaking Division (prose/poetry or traditional speech).

This year’s participants were Mickaelynn Andrews (Washington Center), Benjamin Biank (New Glarus), Esther Biank (New Glarus), Jonathan Biank (New Glarus), Micah Biank (New Glarus), Parker Burnard (Dayton Dairylanders), Aubree Drake (Dayton Dairylanders), Brooklynn Drake (Dayton Dairylanders), Landon Hughes (Clarence Bridge Pioneers), Emily Kruse (Next Generation), Noah Kruse (Next Generation), Ayden McCoy (New Glarus), Ezekiel Ritschard (Clarence Bridge Pioneers), Carmen Strohecker (Clarence Bridge Pioneers), Mac Wand (Clarence Bridge Pioneers), and Eloise Zimmerman (Dayton Dairylanders).

4-H participants were evaluated and provided constructive feedback on their presentation, each receiving a certificate of participation and a participation ribbon (grades 5K-2) or ribbon placing (grades 3 through one year past high school).
