ALBANY - Youth and education programs in Albany are eligible to apply for grants from The Education Foundation of the Albany Community.
The purpose of the grants are to promote local programs/projects that support the mission of the foundation. Board members of the foundation will evaluate and determine the grant award recipients and announce winners by Tuesday, Dec. 31. Grants will be awarded in amounts up to $500.
Applying organizations must be tax-exempt, either as a federally determined 501(c)(3) entity or as a unit of government. Individuals applying for scholarship or educational program assistance grants must provide the name of the school/institution/organization that they will be attending.
Deadline for grant applications is Thursday, Oct. 31. Applications should be submitted to: EFAC Grants, C/O Julie Pankow-Helland, W1023 Yarwood Road, Brooklyn, WI 53521.
Last year, eight grants for a total of about $3,500 were awarded. The 2012 grants supported such local programs as the sixth-grade outdoor education program at Canyon Camp, a high school field trip to the American Players Theater, and the "Cooking It Up 4K Style" program.
