MONROE — A special event for Family History Month sponsored by Green County Gen-ealogical Society and the Monroe Public Library will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Monroe Public Library.

David Bradford will present “Google Hints, Tips, and Tricks for Everyone.” Learn how to efficiently search using Google. David Bradford is a University of Wisconsin graduate with degrees in medicine and business who speaks regionally to history and genealogy groups on technology and medical topics. He has been a member of the Rock County Genealogical Society and the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center for more than 20 years. He was awarded the Wisconsin Genealogy Society’s Virginia V. Irvin genealogy award in 2012.

For this event, the library doors open at 6 p.m. with the program starting at 6:30 p.m. in the second floor meeting room. Please pre-register by calling 608-328-7436 and leaving your name and phone number or visit our website https://www.greencogenealogywi.org/upcoming-events.html. 

The Green County Genealogical Society holds meetings at 10 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month in the second floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library. Visitors are welcome and there is no charge to attend the meetings. The GCGS Research Center (located in lower level of the Monroe Public Library) is available to the public for research. Research Center hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and third Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday after the meeting or by appointment. Main holdings are on Green County. 

Both Rock and Lafayette Counties are well represented as well as several other counties, states, countries and ethnic groups. A large clipping collection of births, marriages and obituaries is available.
