Golf outing set for August 19

NEW GLARUS - The United Way of Green County's ninth annual Golf Outing and Golf Ball Drop/Raffle will be held Friday, Aug. 19 at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club, New Glarus. Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

The fee for golf is $80 and includes greens fee and 18 holes, cart, lunch, a T-shirt and a gift bag.

The Golf Ball Drop follows golfing at approximately 6 p.m. Tickets for the Golf Ball Drop are on sale now at the United Way and at area businesses. They are $5 each, or five for $20.

Prize during the event include a 55-inch Toshiba Super Flat Screen HDTV valued at more than $3,000 (sponsored by Monroe Radio Shack) and an ultimate Badger Football fan package, with two game tickets to a Big Ten game, two badger chairs, a Wisconsin Badger Gazebo and two tickets to the 2012 Monroe Badger Days Sports Banquet. There will also be a golf foursome at Galena's Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa, a Green County shopping spree, a Wisconsin Dells overnight getaway package, Badger Men's Basketball tickets, an autographed Packer football, autographed Badger items, and more.

Flag events are sponsored on every hole throughout the golf course. Sponsors will be provided signage at the tee box on the hole they are sponsoring and receive printed recognition in the outing program. Proceeds from the event will go toward helping support area programs that serve people throughout Green County. All donations are tax deductible. If necessary, the rain date for both events are Friday, Aug. 26.
