BRODHEAD -The Education Foundation of the Albany Community held its sixth annual golf outing on Aug. 3 at the Decatur Lake Golf Course in Brodhead.

Eighty golfers participated in the event. More than $6,000 was raised to support youth programs in the community. Golfers began with lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf with a shotgun start.

This year's winning men's team was Kim Morris, Jacob Morris, Tim Thorson and Duffy Snyder. The co-ed team winner consisted of Tami Behnke, Traci Brewer, Kandi McDonald and Roger Sutter.

After golfing, hole contest winners, silent auction and raffle prizes were handed out. Highlights included John Bailey winning the men's longest drive, Tracy Peterson winning the women's longest drive and Brandon Bayrhoffer winning the 50/50 hole prize. The day concluded with most people heading to the Albany Lions Club for the steak fry.

"Overall, we are very pleased with this year's golf outing and we were again able to raise funds for a great cause," said Julie Helland, Foundation board president. "The Foundation will use the funds raised to issue grants later this year and also to continue to build its perpetual endowment fund."
