MONROE - Girl Scouts across south-central and southwest Wisconsin kicked off the 2018 Girl Scout Cookie Program Feb. 3; it will run through March 11. The types of cookies offered are Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades, Thanks-A-Lots, Shortbreads, gluten-free Trios and after last year's most successful new-cookie launch in the history of Girl Scouts, Girl Scout S'mores.
All of the net profit from each box stays local. While girls and troops choose how to invest their earnings in community projects, personal enrichment opportunities and more, Badgerland Council uses cookie earnings to provide fun, educational adventures such as travel, camp and programs for its more-than 7,300 girl members.
Non-cookie-eaters may want to participate in the troop's Cookie Share: the customer pays for the box of cookies, but instead of giving the cookies to the customer, the troop sets it aside and donates it to a local charity at the end of the six-week sale.
Along with door-to-door sales, Girl Scouts often sell cookies at neighborhood grocery stores. Visit www.girlscoutcookies.org and enter a zip code to find the nearest cookie booth.
Every year, the Girl Scout Cookie Program adopts a new mascot and motto that expresses what it means to be a Girl Scout. This year's theme "Stand Up, Stand Out" celebrates the diversity and individuality of every Girl Scout, and is championed by Ella the Elephant.
