MONROE — Member Linda Schiesser will present “Searching Through the Windows of Your Ancestor’s Home” at the Oct. 5 meeting of the Green County Genealogical Society.
This talk will help those who have questions about their or their ancestor’s home, what may have previously existed on the land and how to learn about the property and the people who once lived there.
The Green County Genealogical Society meeting will be held in the second-floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Refreshments are available for 15 minutes before the meeting. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The GCGS Research Center is located in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library and is available to the public for research. Research center hours are: Tuesdays and third Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the first Saturday after the meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. or by appointment by calling 608-921-1537. Main holdings are on Green County. Both Rock and Lafayette Counties are well represented as well as several other counties, states and countries. A large clipping collection of births, marriages and obituaries is available. Volunteers are on staff to help with research.
