GC Fair: Skid Steer Rodeo rules, regulations

MONROE — The Green County Fair will be host to the Championship Skid Steer Rodeo from 4 to 6 p.m. July 19. The Dealer Demo competition will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Colony Brands Amphitheater. 

This event is designated for skilled operators.


Registration and Qualifications: 

1. To enter, email your name, age, address, driver’s license and occupation to greencountyfair@tds.net by June 19. 

2. Entry fee payment of $30 cash or check payable to the Green County Fair, 2600 10th St., Monroe, WI 53566

3. Twenty-four skid steer operators will compete. Additional $30 fee contestant registration charge after June 19.

4. Contestants ages 18 an older will be required to possess a valid driver’s license.

5. Contestants must complete a dealer safety check on assigned skid steer one hour prior to competition. 

6. All contestants must sign a hold-harmless waiver prior to operating any machinery for the operating test during rodeo. 


Championship Skid Steer Rodeo rules:

1. Prior to the skid steer rodeo, each contestant will draw a random chip designating starting position to operate during the rodeo. Bobcat, Gehl, John Deere, Kubota, Case, New Holland. Contestants will be assigned a skid steer for the competition.

2. Contestants check-in at least 60 minutes before the start of the rodeo. Contestants who show 15 minutes or closer to the start of the rodeo will be disqualified. 

3. Five second penalty added for obstacle, brushed against, rubbed. Disqualification if contestant runs over an obstacle.

4. Only one contestant will be allowed in the arena at one time. 

5. Green County Fair Designated Judges implement safety measures to ensure course and driver remain in service.

6. All contestants must be seat belted during the competition

7. Time starts with the motor off and the bucket on the ground and ends with the returning to the starting line, machine off and bucket on the ground. Air horn will designate the official start.

8. Contestants cannot move onto the next obstacle until he/she finishes the current obstacle they are on. Green County Judges will define the order of obstacles before the skid steer rodeo begins. 

9. Course time limit will be posted at check in. 

10. Contestants can be disqualified if he/she fails to complete obstacle course under posted time limit.

11. Contestants are disqualified if he/she breaks obstacles, operates in a dangerous manner, or uses inappropriate language. Judge’s discretion. 

12. Contestants must stop their skid steer immediately if they are flagged by the designated Green County Fair Judge.
