BLANCHARDVILLE - It's summer in Blanchardville and there's lots to do, from the community events in town to social gatherings at River Valley Trading Co. There are new workshops and art demonstrations this summer and the selection of organic and natural foods increases each week. So check out the local arts, local meat and great workshops.

This summer RVTC will be featuring different arts and artists. June 15 to July 6 Rollande Krandall's Blown Glass Beads will be featured. She will be demonstrating her craft June 27. From July 7 to July 27 pottery by three artists will be featured and on July 10 Eric Fredrickson will demonstrate pottery making. July 29 through August 24 Pleine Air Paintings with a collection of outdoor paintings created by member artists such as Peg Cullen, Joan Stackpole, and Chuck Bauer will be featured. Also, RVTC has wi-fi access available at the store. Classes and workshops include:

• June 6, 9 a.m. to noon, Playing with Fire! Class #1 Beginning Forging Lesson

• June 6, 9 a.m. to noon, Card Making Class with Pam Stassi. No potluck.

• June 10, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Heart Health Walk at upper shelter in McKellar hosted by the Blanchardville EMS.

• June 11, 9 a.m. to noon, Playing with Fire! Plasma Cut Garden Sculpture - Steel Garden Sculpture.

• June 12, 7 p.m., Alternative Fuel Society Brew Share
